What we stand for — the 3 Ps
Every decision we make is weighed against People, Profit and Planet.
People. People come first
Safe, inclusive commerce for every Malawian — at home and in the diaspora. Verified identities, private in-app contact, honest reviews, and real protection from scammers. Dignity and safety are built in, not bolted on.
Profit. Fair, shared prosperity
Free to post — always. We help people earn: sellers, service providers, job-seekers and small businesses. We sustain the platform through fair advertising and partnerships, never by taking a cut of your money or hiding fees.
Planet. Lighter on the planet
We champion second-hand and reuse — giving goods a second life and cutting waste. The app is deliberately mobile-first and low-data, so it costs less money and less energy. And we celebrate what's locally made and grown.
A Malawi where honest commerce is easy, safe and open to everyone — and where doing business well also does good for people and the planet.
To be the most trusted marketplace in Malawi: safe by design, free to use, and a real engine for everyday livelihoods.
Why Malawi Living Hub exists
Malawi's markets have always been strong — what was scattered was the meeting place. A job seeker in Mzuzu, a farmer in Ntchisi, a landlord in Lilongwe, a tailor in Limbe and a Malawian working abroad were all trading in different corners, on different platforms, with no shared ground of trust. Malawi Living Hub was built to be that ground: one modern, safe, free marketplace where all of Malawi's everyday economy meets — jobs, homes, goods, services, vehicles, farms, classrooms, building sites and travel.
We also carry businesses that can't yet carry themselves online. Through our brand profiles, the MLH team builds and manages a full company presence on a client's behalf — verified identity, professional profile, listings with the company's own mark, public customer ratings, live performance analytics and print-ready profile documents. A village co-operative and a national company get the same standard of presentation.
How we govern ourselves
Good governance is not a page of promises — it is how the platform is actually built. Every point below is an enforced system, not a slogan.
Accountability with named roles
Our team works in ranked roles — Owner, Super Admin, Section Admins, Moderators and Support. Nobody can act above their rank, sensitive actions are written to an audit trail, and role changes themselves are guarded and logged.
Two locks on the admin console
Staff entering the admin area must confirm their account password AND a separate console password issued personally by the Owner — each expiring every 30 minutes. Access can be revoked in one click.
Honest numbers, always
Ratings and reviews are written by real customers and protected at the database level. No seller, no brand — and no MLH staff member — can edit, delete or inflate a star.
Your data, minimised
We collect only what the service needs. Identity documents live in private storage behind expiring links, secret keys never leave our servers, and we don't sell personal data. Ever.
Human moderation
Reports go to people, not just algorithms. Scams are removed, repeat offenders are suspended, and suspended accounts cannot quietly come back.
Verified brands you can question
Every client brand profile is identity-checked by our team before it goes public, carries its own public ratings, and is removed the moment it breaks trust. You can report any brand from its own page.
Rooted in Malawi
International standards, Malawian realities — both, on purpose.
Light on data, kind to phones
Built mobile-first for real Malawian networks: photos are compressed before upload, pages stay lean, and updates arrive without re-downloading the app.
Prices the way Malawi trades
Kwacha first, with honest price formats — fixed, “from”, a range, or negotiable — because that is how real negotiation works, from Limbe market to a Lilongwe showroom.
Local down to the suburb
Listings are placed in real localities — Blantyre–Limbe, Lilongwe–Area 47, Mzuzu, Zomba and beyond — so buyers find what is genuinely near them.
Home and diaspora, one hub
Malawians abroad use the same trusted place to hire, buy, support family projects and keep a hand in home — with brands and companies they can verify before sending a single kwacha.
